The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) currently has a vacancy for an unclassified Professional Geologist Supervisor in the Conservation Division, District #1 Office, Dodge City. The KCC is a multi-faceted agency responsible for regulating public utilities including electric, natural gas, telecommunication and water companies as well as motor carriers, oil and gas pipelines and oil and gas natural production. The Commission’s headquarters is in Topeka with the Conservation Division Central Office in Wichita and four Conservation district offices located in Dodge City, Wichita, Chanute and Hays.

Compensation: $68,000 to $74,000

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The KCC currently has a vacancy for an unclassified Professional Geologist Supervisor. This position serves as the Supervisor of the Conservation Division District #1 field office in Dodge City.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervising District #1 field and support service staff that regulate the oil and gas industry in 27 southwest Kansas counties.
  • Providing technical support and testimony before the Commission.
  • Creating solutions for environmentally sensitive oil and gas cases.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Natural Science/Resources with coursework in Geology/Earth Science and Geoscience.
  • Licensing & Certification:
    • Professional Geologist License recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Professional Geologist

Preference would be given to candidates with experience acting in a supervisory capacity as well as those with regulatory experience.
